So sad news
« on: January 13, 2010, 11:42:34 PM »
I have just received the saddest news. Over the Christmas period, Pitxu passed away.
I'm sure we will all want to take a moment to remember him and send our love.

I haven't been around these parts in quite some time and this is indeed sad news to return to. I'm sorry to hear about this. My sincerest condolences to his family and all who knew him.

Oh Hell.
The young people don't understand it, they don't know what it's for... but they do it for a bit o' sport.

Oh that is unbelievable, I read the thread asking where he is just a few minutes ago on RFF. He'll be fondly remembered  :'( RIP. I still have the OM-1 he gave me, very well used, but worked great. I cleaned it too, it was 2 years ago, how time flew by.

Jenni how did you know?

The losses mount. Richard was one who's opinions I respected, he called a spade a spade. With his posts and his pictures he was a teacher.
Al was also a teacher. His vast knowledge and experience, as well as his humble demeanor made him a hero for me.
I also lost my dear brother eight weeks ago. The man served as a surrogate dad for me for many years. He saved me from death by heroin addiction and supported me in the years of my recovery. Always encouraging my photography, tolerating my use of his bathroom as my darkroom and generally giving me a new lease on life with an emphasis on work ethic. He was a tough, hard working guy with a physique of a man 20 years younger than his 64. His heart of gold simply gave out.
He had saved many of my slides shot in the early '70s. They will need some cleaning and scanning, but I will share them here when that is done. Kodachrome, Ektachrome and my favorite High Speed Ektachrome (asa 160 ?). It's quite an experience going through these images from 35 years ago. It may take me awhile to finish the project.

My best to you all, I've missed my regular participation here and hope to return soon.

Steve

Unbelievably sad to hear this news.Richard and I exchanged some old equipment a while ago.He originally came from Wales, and this gave us something in common right from the start. He seemed to have found a real and  true home in that particular region of France. I will always remember his tremendously witty and high qality revolving Avatar of self portraits on RFF.
It was always great fun to speak to him,he will be sorely missed.
